ICCPE leads Pharmicists in National Heart Training Initiative

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and premature mortality in Ireland. As a nation, we may be basking in the glow of the European Union but under the gloss of prosperity and high employment lurks a staggering statistic - with the exception of Finland, we boast the highest death rate from CVD in Europe.

As well as human costs, CHD has major economic implications for the Irish Health Service. Moreover, work productivity lost from death and illness in those of working age and from onus on carers contribute to the financial burden.
