MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The strategic direction taken by the ICCPE is governed by a Management Committee, comprising 12 members nominated by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (4), the Irish Pharmacy Union (4), the Department of Health and Children (2) and the Health Services Executive (2).

The terms of reference of the Management Committee are as follows:

1. To provide and maintain an administrative structure to organise an effective and efficient continuing education programme for community pharmacists.
2. To determine the strategic direction of the continuing education programme to ensure that there is optimum use of public and other resources made available for this purpose.
3. To evaluate and approve continuing education programmes, giving priority to programmes which enhance the professional skills of community pharmacists to enable them to fulfil their responsibilities in the Community Pharmacy (Contractor) Agreement for the Provision of Health Services under the Health Act, 1970.
4. To provide for the continuing education and professional development needs of community pharmacists in order to effectively target community education programmes, having regard to local service needs and the overall take-up of continuing education by community pharmacists.
5. To evaluate the quality and effectiveness of such programmes as may be organised.
6. To ensure the CE programmes provided are in line with ongoing developments in community pharmacy practice.

Management Committee Membership
The members are appointed on the following basis: Two by the Health Service Executive (HSE), Two by the Department of Health and Children, Four by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland and four by the Irish Pharmacy Union

Each member shall sit for 4 years. One third of the membership will be reviewed on a rotating basis. On 1 July each year, the nomination of one member - the longest-serving - from each interest group will be referred back to his/her nominating body. The current member, in agreement with his/her organisation, may roll over membership of the Committee.

The Chairperson will be chosen by the Committee from among the members and will sit for 4 years.
