North South Pharmacy Healthcare Conference 2006
September 11-12, 2006
Cavan Crystal Hotel, Cavan
Research on all aspects of pharmacy practice will be presented at the
third North South Pharmacy Healthcare Conference in Cavan.
Presentations will be made in poster and oral formats by pharmacists,
qualified assistants and pharmacy technicians from the Republic and
Northern Ireland.
The North South Conference is a joint initiative of ICCPE and
the Northern Ireland Centre for Postgraduate Pharmaceutical Education
and Training (NICPPET).
Professor Tony Avery of the School of Community Health Sciences at
the University of Nottingham will present the keynote address at the
North South Conference. Professor Avery's lecture will tackle the topic
of Working Together for Patient Safety. Professor Avery's recent work
has included research on pharmacist and nurse prescribing and on the
development and evaluation of interventions to improve safety in
prescribing.
Oral presentations will be given at four themed sessions: Community
Pharmacy, Hospital Pharmacy, Managing Risk and Ensuring Quality in
Pharmacy Practice. Delegates will have the opportunity to attend two of
these four sessions. Poster viewing will take place throughout the
duration of the Conference.
The main focus of the North South Conference is to share good
practice in pharmaceutical care. Another feature of the Conference is
to demonstrate the continuing impact that pharmaceutical research has
upon changing national policy, pharmacy practice and new models of
care. Alongside ICCPE and NICPPET, the North South Conference involves
the collaboration of representatives from the Irish Pharmaceutical Union
(IPU), Hospital Pharmacists' Association of Ireland (HPAI), Queen's
University Belfast, Trinity College Dublin and the R&D Unit at the
DHSS Northern Ireland.
