Oral Chemotherapy in the Community

Each year, there are over 19,000 new cancer cases in Ireland.
Treatment regimens for the disease are being constantly developed and,
in recent years, traditional administration of chemotherapy by IV has
been augmented by oral chemotherapy agents. The dispensing of these
agents has now moved into the domain of the community pharmacist. In
response to this development, the Irish Centre for Continuing
Pharmaceutical Education presented a training event titled Oral
Chemotherapy in the Community - Are You Ready for the Challenge? Julie
Cronin reports.
