This Spring Programme commences on the 6th February 2012 with a number of important educational lectures. Each of these has been specifically designed to help us as pharmacists to discharge our professional role and responsibilities for the greater benefit of the patients and the public we serve.

The ranges of learning opportunities that are being provided in this Spring Programme cover the following subject areas -

5.	Update on the Management of Stroke
6.	TB – Update on TB in Ireland
7.	Introduction to Research, Abstract and Poster Development for Pharmacists
8.	Improving Medicines Safety
9.	Consultation Skills for Pharmacists
10.	Cancer Screening Training Opportunities

The Management Committee, therefore, strongly encourages as many of you as possible to avail of as many of these events as you can and we look forward to your continued interest and support.

Included in this programme are two one-day events, entitled Consultation Skills for Pharmacists. These events are being run in association with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI). This is a most important initiative in that it is intended to address the need that pharmacists maintain and develop their competency and confidence in relation to patient consultations and in communicating with the public. This competence is essential if the profession is to evolve in those new areas of practice (including products) that require the active involvement of pharmacists in dealing with patients and with members of the public, and particularly if more complex medicines are to become available for pharmacist supply.
