The audit and development of a care plan for Osteoporosis prophylaxis and treatment in the MMUH
Strong J, Creed M, Meegan C.
Pharmacy Department, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin 7
A large number of patients are treated annually for osteoporosis
in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH). As detection
strategies improve and more risk factors are identified, the number of
patients requiring treatment is increasing. No standardised protocol
existed for treatment of these patients in the MMUH. As many new agents
became available (Teriparatide, Strontium), it was appropriate that an
audit was performed on current practices and a care plan devised for
future patients. This poster documents that audit.
