Kieran M., Meegan C., Creed M.
Pharmacy Department, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin
Errors in drug prescribing have been found to be the most
avoidable medication error, with lack of information about the drug
being one of the most frequent causes. This poster summarises research
undertaken to identify omissions, if any, in medical undergraduate and
postgraduate training with respect to prescribing and medicines
management; and to identify the need for expanded pharmaceutical
education at medical undergraduate and postgraduate level and the
aspects that should be addressed.
